Burmese turned wood box, Has a cathedral feel to it.

Lets just say it has been awhile. The last time  I turned anything, was a demonstration at our Desert  Woodturng Roundup in February. Well just completed it turning today.  Bermese Rosewood ring box 7.75 tall x 2.625 & weights is 1.2 bls. Starting the finishing. The finish is hand rubbed on for natural low sheen. This keepsake Box has a perfectly snug fit.

Making pepper mill on the lathe for the Tempe Arts Festival show. Robert, (my partner) and I started to make a couple pepper mill, yesterday, more like last night. We start at 2 pm, and left the shop at 9:30 pm. Crush Grind Mechanism  http://www.gofundme.com/Gallery-du-Maurier  Mounted blank Cone used to center blank after drilled with 1-5/8" then 1=9/16, and final shaft with 1-16th. I had to reform the outside for the center rest to help with 1/4" x 1/8" deep groove for the clip in place. drilling with 1-1/16" colt. I did cut grooves in the scoring blades. Which allow the cutter to cut and not score the wood. Cutting the wood is a cooler,, temperature, than scoring. Try it. I start by shaping the top, to see what portion may work Starting the shaping of the body Tenon is form, the size was not important, as long as it fits....I then drilled with 7/8" forstner, ( all bits where touch up on the grinder, after finding a stone small enough to fit the slot in the forstner.... My first crush grind peppermill, or salt. I must say, the I usually start something new is. I start by doing a little refresher course in searching the web for, one inspiration, and two method. What I found was that there are several sizes differences, not in that it's different from the traditional pepper grinders. There seems not to have a standard unlike the traditional pepper grinders, but each manufacturer has subtle changes in boring sizes. I had also purchased two sightly different grinder mechanisms, and they gave you two different  methods of boring whole size and locations. Head twister, so I just got out my vernier calipers, and double checked each portion for a workable size. I then got to the point I had stop. I did not own a drill bit or forstner bit in 1-9/16, nor did I have a tool for the clip in place portion that did want to use. The alternative is to glue the grinder mechanism in place, (messy).
